Meet our founder
Dr. Ying Chu
Ho Ying Chu, Psy.D., LCSW, QME, is a licensed Clinical and Forensic Psychologist in California and Texas, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in California and Nevada, and a California Qualified Medical Evaluator.
She received her education from The Chicago School of Professional Psychology and Pepperdine University. She specializes in forensic psychology and neuropsychology. Dr. Chu completed her training at several top-tier institutions, including Ibemed (three-year post-doctoral medical psychology residency fellowship focusing on neuropsychology and behavioral medicine), Los Angeles County Department of Long Beach Mental Health Services (MHS) Adult Clinic (advance practicum), Harbor UCLA Medical Center (advanced cognitive behavioral therapy), No. 1 children's hospital in the western United States—Children's Hospital Los Angeles (USC/UCEDD APA Internship Didactics), VIP’s Forensic Urgent Care Center, LAC-USC Medical Center, and Kaiser Permanente.
Dr. Chu was further trained for over three years by Dr. L. Scott Frazier, Ph.D., QME, who completed Harvard Internships and earned his Ph.D. at the University of Oxford. She has been a guest lecturer for the Counseling and School Psychology Graduate Program at the University of Massachusetts Boston. She has over 10 years of post-doctoral experience in the medico-legal field. She is fluent in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin.

How much does a forensic evaluation cost?
At PsyLexis, forensic psychological evaluations are conducted using structured, evidence-based methodologies that adhere to applicable professional, ethical, and legal standards. Fees are determined by the scope of the referral question, the complexity of the case, and the anticipated demands of the legal proceedings.
Fees are based on the nature, complexity, and scope of each referral. Standard forensic psychological evaluations typically range from $4,500 to $6,000, while comprehensive or complex evaluations generally range from $6,000 to $10,000 or more.

The nature, scope, and complexity of the psychological testing required, including the selection, administration, scoring, and interpretation of appropriate assessment measures.

The need for collateral interviews or consultation with other professionals

The complexity of the clinical presentation, diagnostic considerations, and psycholegal questions, including issues related to causation, functional impairment, credibility, risk, and differential diagnosis.

The urgency of the referral, including any need for expedited scheduling, evaluation, records review, or report preparation to meet applicable legal or administrative deadlines.

As each case involves unique clinical, legal, and factual considerations, an individualized fee estimate and retainer requirement will be provided after an initial review of the referral, available records, and anticipated scope of services.
Depositions, trial testimony, travel, expedited services, and services performed beyond the agreed-upon scope are billed separately at the applicable forensic rate.
